How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear,
And drives away his fear,
And drives away his fear,
It soothes his sorrow, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
And calms the troubled breast;
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary rest,
And to the weary rest,
And to the weary rest,
’Tis manna to the hungry soul,
And to the weary rest.
Dear Name! the Rock on which we build;
Our shield and hiding-place;
Our never-failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace,
With boundless stores of grace,
With boundless stores of grace,
Our never-failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace.
Jesus, our Savior, Shepherd, Friend,
Our Prophet, Priest, and King;
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
Accept the praise we bring,
Accept the praise we bring,
Accept the praise we bring,
Our Lord, our Life, our Way, our End,
Accept the praise we bring.
Weak is the effort of our heart,
And cold our warmest thought;
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
We’ll praise Thee as we ought,
But when we see Thee as Thou art,
We’ll praise Thee as we ought.
Till then we would Thy love proclaim
With every fleeting breath;
And triumph in that blessed Name
Which quells the pow’r of death,
Which quells the pow’r of death,
Which quells the pow’r of death,
And triumph in that blessed Name
Which quells the pow’r of death.
1. Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see.
O thou who changest not, abide with me.
3. I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like thyself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.
4. I fear no foe with thee at hand to bless,
ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.
5. Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes.
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
Through all the changing scenes of life,
In trouble and in joy,
The praises of my God shall still
My heart and tongue employ.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
With me exalt His name;
When in distress to Him I called,
He to my rescue came.
The hosts of God encamp around
The dwellings of the just;
Deliverance He affords to all
Who on His succor trust.
Oh, make but trial of His love,
Experience will decide
How blest they are, and only they,
Who in His truth confide.
Fear Him, ye saints, and you will then
Have nothing else to fear;
Make you His service your delight,
Your wants shall be His care.
1. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home.
2. Under the shadow of thy throne,
still may we dwell secure;
sufficient is thine arm alone,
and our defense is sure.
3. Before the hills in order stood,
or earth received her frame,
from everlasting, thou art God,
to endless years the same.
4. A thousand ages, in thy sight,
are like an evening gone;
short as the watch that ends the night,
before the rising sun.
5. Time, like an ever rolling stream,
bears all who breathe away;
they fly forgotten, as a dream
dies at the opening day.
6. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come;
be thou our guide while life shall last,
and our eternal home.
Tribute by husband
My Dearest Ophelia,
Where do I begin? How can I find the words to honor the woman who was my everything for over 50 years?
You were more than my wife—you were my peace, my voice of reason, my gentle guide. You cared for me as if I were fragile, always watching over me like a mother would her child. You checked what I wore, what I ate, and how I carried myself, not out of duty—but out of love. That quiet, deep, unwavering love that only someone like you could give.
You prayed for us—every day. You asked us to stay strong in faith. You never wished harm upon anyone, even when life was unkind. You taught me and the children that revenge has no place in a heart full of love. And that’s what you had—a heart so full of love, it overflowed into all of us.
You were the soul of our family. And now, in your absence, the silence is loud. I miss you every moment. I miss your voice, your presence, your kindness, your strength.
But I take comfort in knowing that you rest in peace, wrapped in the arms of the Lord you served so faithfully. Your legacy lives on in our hearts, in our prayers, and in the love you planted in this family.
Rest well, my dear wife.
You will always be with me.
Tribute by Children
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." – Revelation 21:4
Mum, you were a woman of quiet strength and a steady presence in our lives. You didn’t speak much, but when you did, your words were full of wisdom. You lived with justice and hard work, always leading by example—never seeking recognition, yet always deserving it.
You always reminded us to pray, especially when we came to you with our troubles. You walked your own path with dignity and grace. Your gentle nature and unwavering principles have left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew you.
Though you are no longer with us, your values and the life you lived continue to guide us. We carry your lessons in our hearts and will always strive to honor you.
Rest well, Mum.
You are deeply missed.
Tribute by Siblings
“Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.” (Isaiah 57:2)
Sister Ophelia, as we affectionately called her, was a true sister — one in a million. She was quick to forgive and forget, and she shared her joy and positive virtues with all, without discrimination.
She was a counselor, a comforter, and a peacemaker — always giving freely, and always with a smile.
We had wished to have her around much longer, to represent us at family meetings and gatherings after the passing of our parents. But our wishes are not His; the good Lord knows best.
We will forever remember you. We thank God for the 72 years of your life.
May the good Lord grant you eternal rest.
Fare thee well, dear sister.
Yaawo Ojogba.
Tribute by Grandchildren
Psalm 34:18
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Today, we gather to remember and celebrate the life of our beloved Grandma, whose passing has left an unfillable void in our hearts.
"Grandma Ophelia," as we all fondly called her, was a woman full of love and light—always cheerful, always giving. No matter the situation, she was ready to carry out our heart’s desires, never thinking twice about putting others before herself.
Her love, kindness, generosity, and above all, her tireless hard work, continue to inspire us. She led by example—with quiet strength and a heart wide open. Grandma Ophelia, your life was a living testament to the power of love and selfless devotion. You cared for us like no other, making each of us feel seen, safe, and special.
We will miss you more than words can ever express. Your absence has left a deep hole in our hearts, but your love, your laughter, and the beautiful memories we shared will forever remain with us.
Thank you for being our guiding light, our comfort, and our joy.
Rest peacefully, Grandma Ophelia.
You are deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
